“TuneTutor” program

The TuneTutor program was something I was working on at one time, in an attempt to use the computer to help people learn to play music by ear. It’s a project I haven’t worked on in a very long time. This page gives a synopsis, and tells

The basic program worked well, for the tunes that were manually coded into it. It let a person choose the phrase or phrases they wanted to work on, choose a playing speed, and show fingering for mandolin, fiddle, tin whistle, and Irish flute. What it needs mostly is a good “ABC” music parser, so it can be used for more than the 2 or 3 tunes I coded into the program manually.

The original pages are displayed at https://classic.treelight.com/music/tunetutor/doc-set.html. There, you can get the program, the source code, and the list of things I was working on, before life interfered…
