Structured Twitter feeds, filtered and stored, could be the basis for a comprehensive voting advice system that makes Big Money irrelevant to elections.
A voting advice system can enable grassroots politics, and even help it go mainstream, tipping the scales in favor of candidates who don’t take major campaign contributions.
A Call for SYMBIOSIS of Corporations and Government
Marx was a brilliant thinker who got a lot of things right. He clearly identified Capitalism’s major problem, but unfortunately he missed the solution. His big oversight led to a false dichotomy in theory, which in turn led to “dictatorial socialism” in reality (a bad thing), as opposed to “democratic socialism” (a very good thing, as I will argue).
When you’re losing, change the game. That’s the first maxim of game theory. Corporations have been “gaming the system” for decades. It’s time to change the game, so the political system once again values people more than profits. Doing so could restore the tremendous economy and high standard of living of the 1950’s, while retaining the benefits of modern technology.
Twitter style #hashtags are the girders that allow voting advice to travel down the information highway. They identify ballot choices, allowing advice that is needed to find its destination, while other advice flows right on by, unintrusive and invisible. The #hashtags need to be unique, so they do not conflict with each other, and they need to be divided into namespaces, so they are easy to construct without fear of conflict with other hashtags.
Voting advice is given in the form of a blog post, or advice tweet, that is delivered through an advice stream. The technology that makes such a stream possible is known as an RSS feed (a source that provides information to subscribers).
We can make money irrelevant to elections, which permits solutions to critical problems, such as the restoration of representative democracy to corporate governance.
I wrote this in response to a note detailing her many efforts to oppose Donald Trump’s outrageous activities as President of the United States.
